Valentine's Day is this Friday. As I surf the internet, one things that I keep noticing pretty much everywhere is guides for men who are buying lingerie as a gift this holiday. In fact, a quick search of Google tells me that there are currently more than 6.2 million lingerie gift buying guides available for men on-line. All of them promise to walk the fine line between helping a guy find something that he will like to see on the woman in his life yet still be something that she will want to wear. I haven't reviewed every single one of them, although it has been fun to make my way through as many of them as possible. Regardless, I suspect that everyone of those 6.2 million lingerie gift buy guides gets it wrong in one way or another. This, of course, is based purely on the feedback that I've overheard from significant others of friends. The good news is that as long as the guy gets to see the recipient wearing the gift at least once, it's still worth it.

2012 is only a quarter of the way over. However, has hit a sudden rough patch. The Lingerie Football League announced that they are putting their entire season on hiatus for 2012. They will be back in the summer of 2013. If anyone needs me, I'll be at the bar sulking.

Michela Roth - Fired for Being Too Sexy to Teach American-born model and teacher  Michela Roth , age 38, was fired recently from her job teaching nursery school in Italy . Parents were apparently upset about some of the lingerie photos that she took as a model, which evidently established her as being unfit to teach. Personally, I think the parents and Michela Roth's school overreacted in this situation. None of the photographs were around any of the children. The children were never around any of the modelling sessions nor otherwise exposed to it. Plus, these are nursery school  children. They haven't figured out how to work Google yet. It's not like they are going to find these photos of Michela Roth and develop some "hot for teacher" fetish. In the end, the only person that I think should be fired was the photographer who took the pictures such as the one above. Harsh direct lighting on a 38 year old model? What was that person thinking?

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show just finished its annual telecast for 2011. It was another outstanding telecast. They refer to it as "the sexiest hour of television" and it certainly lived up to its billing. The outfits were amazing and sexy. The musical performances by Kanye West , Maroon 5 , and Nicki Minaj  were each top-notched as well. All of it added up to fantastic television. Personally, I would have liked to have seen less "behind the scenes" footage and more of the show itself. (In my opinion, "behind the scenes" stuff is better for the internet.) However, I have come to accept that I am in the minority opinion on that one.

Kristen Haglund Wants in Your In-Box My latest side project is the Bikini Day blog, which on-line here . I have a lot of blog posts that involve women in a bikini or in lingerie and there's potential for a lot more of them. I decided to move all of them to a separate site. I started the site with a few of my older bikini posts. I will add a new one every day. (Hence the name, Bikini Day.) This enables me to keep the bikini and lingerie stuff around without it getting in the way of all of my other posts. Women in bikinis do tend to grab lots of attention and it sort dominates my blog as a result. As an added bonus, this also enables me to experiment with a few things that I may or may not incorporate in this blog or my neighborhood one . Please check out the Bikini Day blog and let me know what you think of it.

I came across the wonder of EyeHandy.com , which uses beautiful women in bikinis or lingerie to explain how to do certain things. Their most recent one introduces use the beautiful and talented Chelsea who shows us how to clean any mirror spotlessly  without any streaks, lint, or residue left behind. If you'll excuse me, thanks to Chelsea and the team at EyeHandy, I have a sudden desire to clean every mirror in my home. And for any raging feminist who happens to find this blog post, before you post any comments, I will simply ask: when was the last time you came across a bachelor who was suddenly motivated to do housework without any complaints?

TheChive.com posted its collection of 39 women with future lower back problems recently. All of them, of course, were photographed in bikinis or skimpy lingerie. I was actually a little surprised by the photos that they posted. A couple of those ladies might have actually had real boobs.

The Congress in Brazil recently passed a bill to  add warning labels to lingerie . The matter is now pending before Brazillian President Dilma Rousseff . Care to See My Warning Label? If this bill is enacted, all bras sold in Brazil will henceforth carry a label, encouraging their wearer to check herself for breast cancer. Panties will carry one reminding women that condom use may prevent cervical cancer. Not to be left out, men will see a message in their underwear reminding them to be screened for prostate cancer if they are over the age of 40. I, for one, have always thought that women should come with warning labels. These, however, are not the kind that I was thinking about.

Back in the 1960s, there were some great political protests in the United States. Ever since then, we've gotten rather lazy at it. A bunch of people, a few signs, a celebrity speaker, maybe a catchy chant if we were lucky. That was pretty much it. Throughout the Middle East, however, we've seen massive demonstrations that put ours to shame, all organized using the social media platforms that were invented in the United States. She Doesn't Like Dirty Rats My personal favorite for a political protest, though, comes from Russia. There have been a multitude of young people over there protesting the political corruption that runs rampant in their country. One group of young women, however, added an entire new twist to the matter by creating a calendar of themselves protesting in their lingerie . Each month features a different young woman in her underwear with humorous but provocative caption. The one at right, for example, reads "Dirty Rats Are Disgusting." Ano...

The NFL lockout shows no sign of ending anytime soon. Luckily, there is an alternative. One that might actually be better than the NFL itself. There is the Lingerie Football League . It features football, played by women in their underwear. If one adds a beer and some nachos then this very well may be the perfect way to spend an afternoon. I'm just glad, though, that with the LFL putting beautiful women on the field to play football, they didn't decide to put guys on the sidelines in skimpy outfits as cheerleaders. I'm sure there are some folks out there would love to see that happen. I, however, am not one of them.

I use Google News Alerts to keep up with the news that is important for me. And what was the first news alert that I received for 2011? Toronto-based artist Lisa J. Murphy   has released a book called Tactile Mind . It features raised, three-dimensional images of naked people and private parts that are sculpted into thermoform plastic, which is the material that is used for Braille. Some critics call this "porn for the blind". I, on the other hand, just call it awesome. The fact that this was my first news alert for 2011 tells me that this is going to be a very good year.

Whitney Port in MAXIM Earlier this year , I posted that while Whitney Port is a talented fashion designer, she might not have belonged on the annual list of the 99 Most Beautiful Women of the Internet with others like Jessica Alba , Kristen Bell , and Hayden Panettierre . Since then, she has proven me wrong. Whitney Port recently did a lingerie photo shoot, which will appear in the January 2011 issue of Maxim . Suffice it to say, I believe these photos put to rest any doubts as to whether or not she is one of the most beautiful women of the internet. Ms. Port, please accept my apology.
