The Voices in Frank's Head

The crew from the space shuttle Endeavor returned home this morning in a textbook perfect landing at the Kennedy Space Center, completing a mission to the International Space Station that lasted sixteen days. I still get goose bumps every time I see one of the space shuttles take off or land. Congratulations to everyone who was a part of the STS-127 mission, both on the shuttle and back on ground, for a job well done. Welcome home, Endeavor. Next up: the launch of Discovery, which is currently targeted for Tuesday, August 25 as part of the STS-128 mission .

Yahoo and Microsoft signed a deal today to join forces against Google in the search engine market. My first thought was, "Wow! Between them, they can create a search engine that crashes every time you really need to find something." Of course, I'm not really concerned about the impact that this will have on Google. Their stock tumbled -0.82% on this news. Oh, and as I write this, it's up 0.48% in after hours trading. Meanwhile, stock in Yahoo is down -12.08%.

Pepsi has reportedly offered $9.8 million to become the official soft drink of Detroit Metro Airport. As for me, I'm much cheaper. I usually drink Coke. However, I'll make Pepsi my official soft drink for $20. And I won't make anyone take their shoes off to get through security.

I was surfing around on the internet this evening and came across the new swimwear designs from Graffini. (Yes, I am such a fashionista.) Anyway, the folks at Graffini have these designs that are a mash up of graffiti, street signs and so on. They even have one that's based on a skull adorned ATM (see photo at left). And they have them available in a variety of cuts - from classic one piece to Brazilian string bikini. They look cool. There's no getting around that. There interesting and original. However, I can't help but wonder if they aren't a bit over-powering. I mean, when I first came across some of their designs, I have to admit that I noticed the swimsuit before I noticed the woman who was wearing it. In fact when I saw the skull adorned ATM, I almost didn't notice the woman who was wearing it at all. Somehow, I don't think that's the effect that most woman really go for. I mean, I did notice woman eventually. The key word in that sentence,...
