3D Printing Comes to Fashion

Image
3D printing has been around for awhile now, but it has finally come up with something that truly grabs my attention. They have finally started to use 3D printers to make custom bikinis . Unfortunately, no one has come up with a way to use a 3D printer to create a bikini model. I suppose that will come with a future upgrade. For now, we have to do it the old-fashioned way - either pay them lots of cash to show up or convince them you're European royalty.

Hope Dworaczyk Makes Bora Bora Look Even Better

Image
Playboy model Hope Dworaczyk posted a photo of herself on vacation in Bora Bora, Tahiti. As attractive as Bora Bora normally looks, she makes it look even better. Hope Dworaczyk on WhoSay Quite frankly, if I worked for Tahiti Tourisme, I'd hand Hope Dworaczyk a promotional contract before she gets a chance to leave the island. She could do a lot to promote tourism there. I would also re-shoot the photo of Hope Dworaczyk above and use it in all of their promotional materials for Bora Bora. I wouldn't make any big changes to it, just a few tweaks like bringing in reflectors to knock down some of the shadows on her back and smooth out her bikini bottom.

Submitting to PKN X

Image
Pecha Kucha Night in Detroit The tenth installment of Pecha Kucha Night will be on Friday, October 11 at the historic Doubletree Suites in downtown Detroit. This is an excellent opportunity to see what some of the best creative minds in Michigan have been up to. If you, or someone that you know, would like to present at PKN X then please submit a 300 word summary of your work along with some sample image of it to pkndetroit [at] gmail [dot] com no later than October 23.

Bohemian? Please

There's an article on WikiHow.com that offers guidance on how one can be "Bohemian." "Oh, really?" I thought when I stumbled upon this. I have to admit that I split on this one. My paternal grandparents came to this country from Bohemia , which is the western most province in what is today the Czech Republic. I have to admit that there is a portion of me that is mildly irritated by hipsters grabbing onto my heritage. However, if this is something that gets folks to read books that they might not otherwise read, listen to music that they might not otherwise listen, and generally broaden their creative horizons then I'm fairly confident that Grandma and Grandpa Nemecek would happy about it all.

Victoria's Secret Meets the Detroit Lions

Image
Pink by Victoria's Secret introduced a new collection of outfits this afternoon that are inspired by the National Football League. This goes along with the ones that they already have for Major League Baseball.  I have to admit that I'm partial to their ones for the Detroit Lions, all things considered. They look sassy, original, and downright awesome. Of course, since this is Victoria's Secret and these are the Detroit Lions, I have to say that the Victoria's Secret crew will probably score more wins this season that the Detroit Lions will. But I doubt anyone will complain about their success.

Reflections on the Royal Wedding

It's official. Prince William and Kate Middleton are now husband and wife. They will be henceforth the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Her dress, by the way, looked spectacular this morning. I believe that is the most important part of any wedding. Our British friends will likely spend the next several days in the midst of an incredible party that, quite frankly, leaves a lot of Americans a bit confused. We rejected the idea of a monarchy long ago, preferring instead to base our culture around Justin Bieber and an assortment of reality television stars. I'm quite certain this justifies all of the sacrifices that our Founding Fathers made in separating this nation from Great Britain more than two centuries ago. In the meantime, we have a space shuttle launch in a few hours. Plus, the High Holy of Geek Holidays (a.k.a. Free Comic Book Day ) is a mere eight days away.

I Want This

Image
I have lots of t-shirts already. However, I found one that I really, really want. Want it. Want it. Want it. Thank you to the folks at SnorgTees for coming up with this one.

Tobacco (Brown) Road

Image
Looking Too Good for Cigarettes Thanks to the folks at GQ , I now know that tobacco brown suits will be all the rage this spring. I, unfortunately, do not own anything that is tobacco brown. The way I see things, I have two choices. I can either go shopping or I can start rubbing old cigarettes over everything in my closet.

Recycling Gets Sexy

Image
Continuing with my theme today of posting on things that I haven't had a chance to, I wanted to mention a couple of items that I've seen on-line late. I've noticed a couple of designers using reusing materials to make lingerie and bikinis - essentially giving recycling a sexy twist. Pink Tab Bikini by Ingrid Goldbloom Bloch Ingrid Goldbloom Bloch , for example, has produced what she calls the "Pink Tab Bikini". As its name implies, it is a pink bikini that is made entirely of pieces from cans of Tab. This piece looks very interesting and can imagine the right woman having a lot of fun with it. However, there's a part of me that wonders how comfortable a metal bikini could actually be. In this regard, I believe one should view her work as art as opposed to a piece of everyday fashion. Her design shows us that there is enormous potential in the things that we throw away. That is important, but it also limits the impact of this design. Moving away on to ...

Bollywood in a Bikini

Image
Neha Dhupia One doesn't normally associate Indian cinema with attractive women in skimpy bikinis. The fact of the matter is that, as the guys at BollyKings.com point out , the nation that gave us the Kama Sutra is still fairly conservative in matters  of sexuality and attire. However, that hasn't stopped anyone from compiling a list of "The 10 Hottest Bikini Babes of Bollywood". Bollywood, after all, is home to such beautiful actresses as Miss World 2000 Priyanka Chopra , Neha Dhupia , Barbara Mori , and others. Anyone of these ladies, I should point out, could easily hold their own in bikini regardless of what Hollywood starlet happens to be standing nearby. Priyanka Chopra These films don't often appeal to the English-speaking audience for a number of reasons. However, with actresses like this on the screen, I have to admit that they do hold my attention. I am gaining a whole new level of appreciation from Bollywood cinema, even if I do hav...

Quidditch Lingerie

Image
Does anyone know where one can find some Quidditch lingerie? The folks at Warner Bros. trademarked Quidditch lingerie for licensing purposes, which has prompted rumors across the internet that such a product is forthcoming from the House of Harry Potter.

Perfect Tan Bikini

Image
This Bikini is Perfect The folks at Perfect Tan Bikini have developed their answer to tan lines. The bikini uses a special adhesive to keep its top secured without any strings. Although, it looks rather interesting to see a bikini top just float there. The manufacturer swears  that this adhesive will keep the top secure, even while swimming, and do so without making it painful to remove. I like the idea. I'm just waiting for women near me to give it a test wear.

Keira Knightley Hates Clothes

Image
Keira Knightley Keira Knightley  recently told an interviewer that she hates clothes - or at least she hates shopping for clothes. I suppose there is a simple remedy for this.  Keira Knightley could simply walk around naked all the time. I'll be sure to mention this suggestion to her when next our paths cross. And then I'll be sure to duck.

Fun with Magnets

Image
Magnets Are Fun Lingerie Dement is new line of lingerie from France. What makes them different is that, instead of clasps or hooks, there lingerie is secured with tiny, almost invisible, magnets. They say this makes it easier for women to clasp a bra in a rush. One only needs to get the two magnets close to one another before the laws of physics pull them together to form a secure clasp. Of course, the other side of this is that I now have one more thing to play with.

Boob Jobs and Bras

Image
I've been thinking about breast augmentation surgery a lot lately. It was one of those weird moments stemming from a recent weekend encounter where - okay, I'll just say it - I was reminded that it's possible to tell which part of a woman's breast is real and exactly where her implant starts, if she has one. Heidi Montag Has Cold Boobs The result can be, well, odd at best. Sometimes, however, it can be downright disturbing. Oh, and did I mention that the temperature of a woman's breast varies if she has an implant? The part of it that is an implant is colder than the natural part. This is also kind of disturbing. Very, very disturbing. It's enough to make me feel sorry for any guy who ends up in the bedroom with Heidi Montag . (I mean, not sorry by a lot. Just a little.) All of this makes be believe that an old-fashioned padded bra is a lot better than a boob job. They're both nice to look at. However, a Wonderbra or the new BioFit from Victoria...

Memo to Bottle Blondes

Image
They say that blondes have more fun. There is even a university study to prove that they do . Black Lights Don't Like Bottle Blondes However, there is at least one drawback. Black lights aren't kind to bottle blondes, as I was reminded while talking to one such woman earlier this evening. I don't know the physics and chemistry behind this. However, I know that when black light hits bleached hair, it makes the hair glow. Oh, and since the bleaching process almost never works evenly across all of the hairs on a woman's head, some hairs glow more than others. This makes a woman's head a mixture of brightly glowing hair, hair that's only glowing a little bit, and hair that doesn't glow at all. All of that mixed together. The end result of this is, um, well, unique to say the least. Regardless of how attractive she was - well, with the exception of the hair - it took all of the restraint I could muster to keep a straight face.

Sabraine Banado Goes 3-D

Image
I love the British. Americans created 3-D technology for movies. Brits put it to use for what is clearly its highest purpose - billboards for the Wonderbra. Sabraine Banado Goes 3-D Sabraine Banado  is the Brazilian model who graces this 20 foot wide billboard near the Waterloo station in London. One needs special glasses to experience "the full effect" of this advert. However, even a blind man can see its intended purpose. I want to thank all the folks at Wonderbra for taking Sabraine Banado and wonders of 3-D technology to a whole new level. I also want to express my amazement at the skill of British drivers. I'm amazed that there haven't been more traffic accidents in London today. Of course, I should also express my appreciation for the fact that they went with Sabraine Banado for this one and not Heidi Montag . With her fake boobs, they would've needed to rent a second billboard.

Buy Pretty Underwear

Image
I read about a lot of things on Twitter. It always amazes me how much people can pack into 140 characters. Hope Dworaczyk Wants Pretty Underwear For example, Hope Dworaczyk tweeted some advice from the New York Fashion Week. "Seriously ladies, start buying pretty underwear now," Hope Dworaczyk wrote in an update. "Better yet, hit the gym. So far, everything for spring is super sheer." I suddenly find myself imagining the woman of America strutting around in super sheer outfits. I think this is a wonderful idea. I find myself looking forward to spring 2011 already. My thanks go out to Hope Dworaczyk and the fashion designers of America.

Kelly Brook Times Two

Image
Kelly Brook  is an outstanding model and actress. I look forward to seeing her in Piranha 3D , which looks like a fun B-movie. Two Kelly Brooks Are Better Than One Of course, the only thing better than seeing Kelly Brook is seeing two  Kelly Brooks. Normally, this would not happen since there's only one of her and no one has figured out this whole cloning thing yet. Luckily, I was still able to see two of her in this photo at left. Kelly Brook is featured in an advertising campaign for Reebok. Someone was brilliant enough to take a picture of her standing next to one of her billboard, thus allowing everyone to see two Kelly Brooks at one time. I love this photo of Kelly Brooks. I would like to thank the folks at Reebok for making it possible.

That's A Shirt

Image
Hope Dworaczyk Wears a Shirt I come across a number of a really great quotes from my friends. The best one that I heard this week is, "That's a dress in Las Vegas. Everywhere else in America, it's a shirt." In the immortal words of Homer J. Simpson , "It's funny because it's true."
