Oh, What A Week

Image
This past week has been insane for me. There have been so many things that I really meant to blog about, but I simply haven't had a chance to sit down and recount them all. I mean, I did manage to find a chance to blog about the $5 million bra , but come on. I'm a guy. How could I not blog about that? Anyway, before my schedule blows up on my again , here is a recap of the past week. Thursday, October 16 The interesting portion of my day started at 10:30 a.m. That was when I arrived at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel for an interview with Detroit Today on WDET. It was another chance for me to talk about how much I love that hotel and how I think it will be the catalyst for great things in downtown Detroit. This, of course, was the third time that I had been on Detroit Today in the past year. Strangely enough, this was also the year that they won "Best Local Radio Talk Show" in the Metro Times Readers' Poll. Is this purely a coincidence? Well, of course it ...

Happy Birthday to Me!

Image
I entered this world at 3:57 a.m. on August 20, 1970, which means that today is my birthday. I was lying in bed a moment ago; not quite able to get to sleep. My mind was pondering too many things all at once. Partly to assuage my own anxiety that I haven't accomplished enough at this point in my life, and partly as a mental exercise, I started making a mental list of all that I've seen, done or accomplished in my life that would be truly noteworthy. It wasn't long before this list became too long for me to keep track of in my own head. Since I still couldn't sleep - and the mental list probably was keeping me awake - I decided to compose all of these thoughts in one blog entry. This will, of course, be a fairly long entry. It's a recap of 38 years worth of existence, after all. Rather than go into every point, I'll just record some of the things that most people don't already know about me. In my 38 years on this planet, I published my own novel. It n...

Stephen Colbert Worked With A Bear Sympathizer

I recently learned that one of the greatest of American heroes Stephen Colbert used to work with a bear sympathizer - but not just any kind of bear sympathizer - a Canadian bear sympathizer. Just look at this recently de-classified surveillance video. It clearly shows Rob Coddry , who worked with Stephen on that other television show , allowing a Canadian bear into his home where it was presumably given aide and comfort. The surveillance video is only 30 seconds long. One can only presume that everyone was malled to death after that point. I have to express my profound disappointment that Stephen didn't uncover this sooner. God only knows how many lives have been lost already.

More on the Report

Earlier this morning, I posted about how astronaut Garret Reisman was a special guest on The Colbert Report - live from the International Space Station. They talked for several minutes in an interview that was classic Stephen Colbert . Well, that particular clip is now available on-line. Check it out below. It's truly one of the coolest things I've seen all year. I also found an article in the Houston Chronicle that talked about this interview, which included references to a few things that got edited out of the episode when it aired - like the fact that there aren't any refrigerators on the International Space Station to chill ice cream or beer.

OMG!

I was just watching The Colbert Report . Stephen Colbert had one of the astronauts on his show, Garrett Reisman , live via satellite from the International Space Station. It was one of the coolest things I've seen all year.
