Detroit Shock are Moving to Tulsa

The Detroit Shock are reportedly about to move to Tulsa, Oklahoma. I can't say that I really blame them. In a town that has four other professional sports teams already - plus Michigan and Michigan State sports teams - it has been hard for them to generate the attendance that they need.

Of course, the saddest part all of this is that the Detroit Lions are staying.

Well, we are glad you are generous in sharing a pro team with Oklahoma. They are only the second pro team that we have, since the Thunder came to us last year from Seattle. As a former Detroiter, I'm really liking this.

P.S. You can keep the Lions! :)
I am surprised to hear that the Shock are relocating to Tulsa. You make a good point about there being too much competition in the Detroit sports scene. It's also true in other cities. It's amazing how many WNBA teams have folded or relocated in recent years.

@Stella: You know, I love everyone in Oklahoma. However, I can't help but feel that there really ought to be a rule: If you want to take the Shock, you have to take the Lions, too.

@SteveMar2: I have a feeling that there is going to be a lot more of this as time goes on. In the long run, it will probably be good for the WBNA; help them step out from the NBA's shadow.
