Dating in your 30s

I was chatting yesterday with my partner-in-crime from Detroit Synergy, Paula Turner. She said something that I thought was incredibly profound.

She said that dating in your 30s is a lot like shopping for luggage. Everyone in their 30s already has a certain amount of emotional "baggage". The whole dating process at this point is really about finding someone with a matching set.

What constitutes as baggage? Ive always wondered

LOL - I've always thought of baggage in terms of being sent on a guilt trip. But then I had to wonder why I always seemed to let other people do my packing for me.

There's a great exchange in the musical RENT:

ROGER
I've been trying - I'm not lying
No one's perfect. I've got baggage

MIMI
Life's too short, babe, time is flying
I'm looking for baggage that goes with mine

Hope all is well with you!

Liza,

You are one of the few people I know who could weave a Broadway musical into a conversation on dating in your 30s.

Love & laughter,
Frank

It's true. Frank's blog is number six on Google for the term "Dating in your 30s".

I found dating in my 30s to be a lot of fun, if mystifying at times. I'm betting, though, that "Dating in your 40s" is a Google whack [returns no results] because it just doesn't happen !

Oh, I did Google DIY40s, and it's a pretty complete list. Hmm.

I no longer worry so much about baggage, hers or mine, and dating since discovering fromage and cribbage. The combination is so good, one overlooks even saggage. What I desire most, though, is Mick Jaggage. That cat can date across the slate !
